On a diet for 32 years (so far)

I have never had a blog site before. I've been told that keeping a blog may help me to stick to my diet, I am going to use it as a diary with my diet kinda thrown in. Like other diaries I have kept in the past - I may go days without writing anything. Anyway, don't have a clue what I'm doing but here goes. This is me in the sheepskin jacket looking like Uncle Fester's mum!!. Taken at Niagara Falls last Christmas.

Little bit of background

My daughter was born in 1976. I was quite slim before I became pregnant but put on loads of weight during my pregnancy. Loads of weight I say - I weighed 11st 4lbs after giving birth. I would give my back teeth to weigh that now. I weighed 18st 3lb at my heaviest which was about October last year. My sister treated me to a trip to the USA and I lost a bit of weight leading up to that - I didn't want to be one of these people who couldn't fit into the plane seat. Anyway, we went by American Airlines and they seem to cater for fat old birds. I still thought I was going to get off the plane and drop dead from a thrombosis or something. As it turns out we had a lovely time and we can't wait to go back.

I became quite ill a while back. I have had more blood taken for tests than I care to imagine. And tubes pushed into every orifice. After two years I have been told that my health will not improve until I lose this excess weight. My liver and probably all my other internal organs have been affected by years of being grossly fat.

I have joined WeightWatchers and am determined to lose the weight now. I have two children and four grandchildren - The last granddaughter as born three weeks ago and I would like to be around to see her grow up. This is one of the main reasons I am now so determined to finally get rid of the fat.

I am going away with my daughter and her children in a few weeks. I have dropped from size 24 clothes to size 20 (which are comfortably loose, now) I am hoping to fit into size 18 jeans for my holiday in about three weeks.

I will put other photos on as the weight drops off - as I am confident it will. My weight at the last Weigh in (WI) was 16st 4lbs.

I'm sure you can do that ! :)

Nice idea to write your experience in a blog, maybe you can help others with that!
